Free photos with Santa Claus Saturday morning in Breslau

Santa Claus is coming to the Breslau Community Centre Saturday morning. Local families are invited to come get a free photo with the man in red.

He’ll be in the ‘Empire Room’ at 100 Andover Drive from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In exchange for a free photo with Santa, local families are being asked to bring in a donation that will go to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

The event was organized by Laura Ostofe who lives in Woolwich. She was happy the local community centre had one remaining space in December they could rent for a couple hours.

“It was the only thing they had available on the calendar in December. We rented that room and then I basically kind of emailed out to my mom group that I started this, can anyone please help me and its amazing how quickly the community kind of jumps in,” said Ostofe.

Ostofe said she wanted to raise donations for the food bank after hearing about how desperate the local food bank was through radio programs like CityNews Kitchener.

“We should never have to worry about putting food in our bellies and feeding our kids,” said Ostofe.

“I thought if we could take the magic of seeing Santa and turn that into a full belly then that’s a good thing.”

Ostofe wanted to make sure every family could get their photo with Santa without spending too much. She mentioned the price for photos with Santa can range depending on location.

“Kids can still have that magic experience of sitting on Santa’s lap and having a picture as a memento and not having it cost the parents, there shouldn’t be monetization to memories in my opinion,” added Ostofe.
