They bent but did not break; your Kitchener Rangers are back in the win column after a successful night against the Flint Firebirds.
The Sunday evening game ended in the Rangers’ favour, 3-1 the final, but it didn’t start that way.
CityNews 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter said Jackson Parsons earned the first star of the game, with 33 saves for the Blueshirts.
“He stood his ground, he managed the game very well .. Kitchener had six penalties to kill, and I always say your best penalty killer has to be your goaltender.”
Adrian Misaljevic nabbed the first goal of the game, with two more points coming from Matthew Sop and Carson Rehkopf. Tanner Lam picked up a couple of assists.
Fixter notes the weekend posed a tough challenge for the Rangers, with losses against both Owen Sound and Guelph on Friday and Saturday.
“Third game in three days with travel, that’s impressive, and I think what this shows is the character that is on this team, ‘hey, we are going to have a few bumps in the road, but those bumps won’t last very long and they won’t be very high.”
Your Kitchener Rangers wrap up their road trip this Wednesday in Erie against the Otters. They are back home at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Friday, taking on the Ice Dogs.
You can listen to both games with Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter starting at 6:35 p.m. on CityNews 570.
