A boost is on its way for the local auto industry.

PWO Canada has announced a $9.6 million dollar investment into its McBrine Drive location in Kitchener.

The cash will support a new assembly line and support 27 new jobs.

Speaking of support, the provincial government is adding an additional $1.5 million to the initiative through its Regional Development Program.

Andreas Hass, CEO of PWO Canada notes, the major investment will help enable growth in the community and keep talented employees in Waterloo Region.

“The confidence that protects the needs of future generations and respects our planet and the assurance that our endeavors are backed by the support and trust of our government leaders. We extend our gratitude to the government for recognizing the potential within our company which is a great recognition of the tireless efforts and countless hours invested by our professional and dedicated team.”

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic spoke on this week’s announcement, saying it’s great news for the city.

“For more than 25 years, PWO has believed in Ontario’s and Kitchener’s manufacturing opportunities. Today’s announcement by the province and PWO of further investments in the local plant’s innovation and growth is a major vote of confidence in the local team. That will help create more jobs and further bring our Make-It-Kitchener strategy to life!”
