Rangers sign goalie Owen Edwards

By James Sebastian-Scott

The Kitchener Rangers added to their goaltender depth by signing Owen Edwards.

The team announced the signing Wednesday afternoon.

“We would like to welcome Owen to the Rangers,” said Rangers general manager Mike McKenzie in a release. “He will provide us with depth in the goaltending position and has the ability to be a very good goalie in our league as he matures and gets older. Owen will play with the Elmira Sugar Kings this season and we look forward to seeing him make the jump to junior hockey.”

Edwards was selected in the sixth round, 111th overall of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

He will play for the Elmira Sugar Kings to start the 2023-24 season.

“I feel really blessed to have this opportunity,” said Edwards in a release. “There is a really great group of guys in that locker room and the coaches are so welcoming. I’m excited to play for Kitchener one day.”
