A major roadway in Kitchener’s industrial heartland is closed Thursday morning after a crash Wednesday night.
It happened on Wabanaki Drive, between Wilson Avenue and Manitou Drive, around 9:30 p.m.
As of Thursday morning the scene shows a white SUV with some front end damage, underneath a hydro pole.
The pole was damaged badly enough hydro crews were called in with a crane to take the old pole out and put a new one in.
No wires came down in the incident, and the power remained on at all buildings along Wabanaki.
Waterloo Regional Police have confirmed the collision was not fatal.
Wabanaki Road has since reopened at Wilson Avenue after an extensive closure for hydro work.
The white SUV that struck the pole at 599 Wabanaki Drive last night is now being towed away. The pole is still out of the ground, and the closure between Wilson and Manitou remains. @CityNewsKIT pic.twitter.com/dHw7rar9Ka
