Humane society makes urgent appeal for hospice home for dog with cancer

A local humane society has made an urgent appeal for a hospice home for a nine-year-old dog named Maisy.

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth said Maisy came into their care as a stray back in May and had a bladder infection, ear infection, and several masses on her body at the time.

She’s since undergone two surgeries to be spayed and had mammary masses removed, but a biopsy found they were cancerous.

Maisy is described as a sweet, friendly girl who adores affection and that she is comfortable, happy, and thriving — despite living with cancer.

The humane society acknowledged that Maisy likely doesn’t have much time left in her life and will likely require further veterinary costs.

Her adoption fee has been waived because of the situation.

If you or someone you know could provide Maisy a loving hospice, you can contact the humane society.

The adoption team is also available to answer any questions, and can be phoned at 519-745-5615 ext. 250.
