Speed cameras installed in four Guelph school zones

Drivers in Guelph are going to have to slow down in school zones if they want avoid a ticket.
The City of Guelph is now using Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) in four locations.
ASE is another safety measure in line with the provincial VisionZero strategy recommended in the Transportation Master Plan to eliminate all road collisions.
The speed cameras are a tool the city uses to combat speeding and aggressive driving. Other measures recently introduced include lower speed limits, red light cameras and traffic calming projects like rubber and asphalt speed cushions.
ASE is currently active at Westwood Road Public School on Westwood Road, St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School on Colonial Drive, King George Public School on Metcalfe Street, and Fred A. Hamilton Public School on Ironwood Drive.
In three months time, the cameras will be moved to four of the other 12 locations. That will ensure each school zone has a camera for an equal amount of time until July 31, 2024.

In Waterloo Region, 16 school zones have automated speed enforcement in place already. The region plans to have another 16 cameras installed by the end of the year.
