Guelph police warn of alarming rise in accidental 9-1-1 calls

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Guelph police are sounding the alarm over a dramatic increase in accidental 9-1-1 calls.

The police service said there were about 100 accidental 9-1-1 calls in the royal city every single day last month.

Taking a look at the numbers, there were just over 2,800 accidental 9-1-1 calls to Guelph police in June of 2023.

That’s compared to just over 1300 calls in June of 2022.

Police are reminding residents if you do accidentally call emergency services, stay on the line as 9-1-1 operators have to ensure your safety.
