Driver, passenger taken to hospital after collision in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating a Saturday morning collision in the Waterloo area that sent two people to the hospital.
At roughly 2 a.m. on July 15, officers responded to the area of King Street South and William Street East for reports of a single-vehicle collision.
According to police, a Kia sports utility vehicle (SUV) was driving north on King Street South when the driver lost control on a bend in the road of William Street East and struck a building.
The 56-year-old driver from Kitchener sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken an out of region hospital.
The passenger, a 56-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said that alcohol and speed were factors and the investigation is ongoing.
