The search continues for 37 year old Nathan, a former Waterloo region resident, who has now been missing for over a month.
Nathan’s cousin Jason Babcock appeared on The Mike Farwell Show on Thursday, and said that Nathan’s disappearance has been difficult for the family.
“It’s gotten harder as it’s gone on to a month, with no positive sightings at all,” Babcock remarked. “We’ve had a few leads the police have followed up on, but have not identified Nathan yet.”
Nathan, who has down syndrome, disappeared on May 12th and was last seen in the area of Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue in Toronto.
According to Babcock, Nathan moved from Kitchener to Toronto two months before he went missing, and the family suspects he may be heading back home.
“He lost his Dad in December, so we’re thinking he was trying to get back, possibly to where he was living, to where his Dad passed.” Babcock explained.
Babcock noted that Nathan had been staying in Toronto to help bring him closer to the family and avoid living in a group home.
To those who may see Nathan, his cousin offered up some advice.
“Call him by name. Talk to him about sports teams. Play some country music for him. He likes Garth Brooks. He likes Shania Twain. Talk about music. You put on some country music, he’ll dance and sing for you.”
Babcock encouraged people who are looking for Nathan to be vigilant.
“Every down syndrome child or adults do not look the same,” Bacbcock stated. “They all have different features. Nathan has a different walk than some people. His balance is off. He has a beard.”
Toronto police have described Nathan as being 4’6″, 170 lbs, with a full beard and moustache.
Babcock also expressed gratitude for the support that he and the family have received not only from police and local community members, but also from people all across the country.
