Kitchener city councillors are going to hear the pros and cons of replacing the handful of houses at Victoria Street South and Park Street with a 42-storey tower.
A pitch from the developer, and responses from concerned citizens, are all coming up at the Planning and Strategic Initiatives Committee Monday evening.
According to council documents, the mixed use development includes 436 residential units.
The small triangle of land it would take up currently has mostly rental houses, with seven residential units.
Kitchener city councillors today discuss the pros and cons of a proposed 42-storey development for Victoria and Park, where several rental housing units currently stand. Hear the details this morning on @CityNewsKIT or online at https://t.co/8n8c3cpLsJ pic.twitter.com/EMv9wyk974

Comments already submitted to Council include concerns about traffic volume on Victoria Street with so many more people potentially living there.
Another citizen wrote in, asking, “Where are these 40 storey somethings going to end?”
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
