New hangar officially opens at ROW International

Chartright Air officially opened its new Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the Region of Waterloo International Airport on Wednesday.

The facility is 100,000 square feet and includes an additional 150,000 square feet of ramp space.

“We are so pleased, proud, and excited to launch this new chapter of general aviation at the Region of Waterloo International Airport,” Chartright Air President Adam Keller said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This world-class facility is capable of serving private jets of any size.”

The new facility is known as Hangar 64 and includes a new executive lounge.

“A well-appointed departure and arrival lounge enables passengers bringing commerce to the area to securely arrive, do their business, and then depart with minimum delay,” Keller said.

Regional Chair Karen Redman said that with a growing population, the hangar will prove important for the Region.

“These are the kinds of assets and the kinds of services that will prompt people to go ‘I’m going to go to Waterloo Region because I know there’s a great deal of support, services, and world-class amenities,'” Redman said.

She added that local aviation programs were also a reason why Chartright wants to invest in the Region.

“The ability to work very closely with Conestoga College, with the Universities, because they have ground crew, they have pilots, they have mechanics,” said Redman. “That kind of access to skilled workers is key to their expansion.”

Chartright believes that the FBO will not only assist with increasing demand but will also provide an alternative to Toronto’s Pearson Airport for GTA air passengers.
