Warm, sunny weather arriving in Waterloo Region

Those tired of the long, cold and rainy spring have just a few more days of gloomy weather to endure.

Monday to Wednesday is expected to see snow and rain, with Tuesday’s high reaching just three degrees, but after that, the sunshine and double-digit temperatures arrive and are here to stay.

The weekend will be the warmest days of the week as Saturday sees a high of 18 and Sunday gets up to 21.

Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson told CityNews the average temperature for this time of year is 16 degrees.

“We’re also expecting temperatures to remain somewhat warmer than normal as we get into that second week of May,” he said, “and the long-range forecast for the third and fourth weeks of May also showing that trend: warmer than normal conditions, and also dryer than normal conditions.”

Reiterating that there are near-freezing temperatures to get through before Thursday’s high of 13, Coulson advises people to keep good driving habits until then.
