A good samaritan saved the day in Cambridge.
On Friday afternoon, two girls, aged 10 and 11, visited Toaster’s Family Diner for lunch, where one of the girl’s mother works as a server.
Afterwards, they stopped in to a nearby convenient store to buy candy.
Four teenagers then approached the two children with verbal harassment and threats to beat them up.
The two girls ran back in to the diner to ask for help.
That’s when Lynda Palmer, a server at Toaster’s, stepped in.
“I came out to see what was going on, and there were four teenagers sitting there,” Palmer explained. “I asked them what the problem was, why are they threating the customers? And they just started totally losing control, mouthing off, calling me names, all kinds of just ridiculous nonsense.”
After unsuccessfully attempting to find help, Palmer decided to take matters in to her own hands and contact the police.
“At one point, I went outside, and then they just started yelling even worse. The one girl threw a drink at my leg.” Palmer elaborated.
The 9-1-1 operator could hear the commotion on the phone and advised Palmer to go back inside and lock the door.
Police showed up shortly after and took at least one of the suspects into custody.
When it comes to putting up with incidents of harassment like the one outside of the diner, some people would let it go, but Palmer’s message is simple.
“I never do.”
