Waterloo’s OpenText buys Micro Focus for $5.8B

OpenText's acquisition of Micro Focus International is now a done deal.
OpenText, based in Waterloo, made the announcement Tuesday morning. The deal is worth $5.8 billion U.S.
Micro Focus is described as a leading provider of mission-critical software technology and services.
“I would like to welcome Micro Focus customers, partners and employees to OpenText,” OpenText CEO & CTO Mark J. Barrenechea, said in a news release. “Digital life is life, and with Micro Focus' great products and talent, we will help organizations of all sizes accelerate their digital transformation.”
“This new generation of Information Management software will help organizations accelerate their digital transformation and drive growth while reducing costs.” Barrenechea added.
The deal was first announced last August.
