Special weather statement calls for wintry mix of conditions Thursday

By Erin Anderson

We're gearing up for another blast of wintry weather later this week.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a mixed bag of conditions on Thursday.

Strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h, freezing rain or ice pellets, and up to 5 cm of snow are possible.

As a result, roadways and walkways could become slippery and hazardous. There's also the chance of tree damage and power outages.

The weather statement from Environment Canada cautioned, “Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
