Cambridge search warrant leads to seizure of firearms, ammunition

A 34-year-old Cambridge man is facing several charges following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in that city. 

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the ordeal began with a reported dispute in the Greenway-Chaplin area of Cambridge on Monday. 

Through their investigation, police learned that a verbal dispute between two individuals had become physical – resulting in the call for service. 

As a result of that investigation, police conducted their search warrant at a residence and seized eight restricted firearms, 15 non-restricted firearms and ammunition. 

That 34-year-old Cambridge man has since been charged with the following: 

  • Point firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm
  • Use firearm – in the commission of an offence
  • Assault cause bodily harm – strangulation
  • Assault
  • Utter threats to cause death
  • Sexual assault 
  • Forcible confinement
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
