Waterloo Region's tech sector is receiving a boost as more than $10-million in federal funding has been announced for three local companies.

It includes Miovision Technologies, Advanced Electrophoresis Solutions, and Huron Digital Pathology.

The FedDev Ontario investment will assist the companies with various projects and improvements, and create new jobs.

At Miovision, the money will help further develop traffic monitoring hardware and software, and support a transition into 'Smart City' technologies.

At Advanced Electrophoresis Solutions, the money will help the company ramp-up production of medical testing instruments and expand its global market presence.

At Huron Digital Pathology, the money will help the company expand production of digital pathology scanners and fast-track commercialization efforts.

“Through investments like the ones announced today, we are fostering the growth of a crucial sector of our economy while also creating 80 jobs and continuing to attract talent to Waterloo Region,” said Waterloo MP Bardish Chagger in a release.
