'Strikes Are a Right'. Those are the words plastered in graffiti outside the office of Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Mike Harris Jr.
The conservative MPP tweeted out a picture of the graffiti, calling the action completely unacceptable.
Multiple responses to Harris' tweet commented on constituents not being able to get in touch with him.
Harris told CityNews 570 that he believes the people making these comments are also the ones who condone actions like the vandalism done to his office.
Rallies have been held by education support workers outside of Harris' office since CUPE announced a strike last Friday.
The MPP said he has not spoken to those on the picket line.
“…Really focusing on trying to make sure that we're not muddying the waters,” said Harris Jr. “…and that we're able to have the provincial bargaining units from CUPE and the province be able to do the bulk of the heavy lifting.”
Harris added that if people want to have constructive conversations, he is happy to do so.
Harris is adamant that the provincial government did not succumb to public pressure when Premier Ford announced that he would withdraw Bill 28 on Monday morning.
The legislation, entitled 'Keeping Students in Class Act', included the notwithstanding clause, made strike action illegal.
