Two people pronounced dead after crash west of Trussler Road (update)

Two people have been pronounced deceased following a two-vehicle crash just west of Trussler Road on Monday morning.

West Region OPP reported Monday afternoon that two people were pronounced dead as a result of the collision. However, a later update said the individuals remained in life-threatening condition. 

They succumbed to their injuries in hospital, and their names are being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Five others were sent to hospital as a result of the collision as well; one has life-threatening injuries, the others have injuries ranging from minor to serious.

All eastbound lanes were closed in the area for several hours for the investigation, with traffic re-routed onto Oxford Road 29.

Eastbound 401 lanes fully reopened just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
