Vrbanovic re-elected as mayor of Kitchener

Berry Vrbanovic will return for a third term as mayor of Kitchener.

With all 76 polls reporting, Vrbanovic had close to 80 per cent of the votes (almost 27,000 votes).

Val Neekman was second with just under 10 per cent of the vote.

Vrbanovic said in his third term he will focus on growth, the region's economy, health and sustainability, as well as creating an affordable and inclusive city.

“Our council … community, and organization rose to the challenge and not only managed through the pandemic with our regional, provincial and federal partners. But we also managed to move forward on the vast majority of priorities identified by the community.”

Voter turnout was just over 20 per cent.
