Leaf collection to begin Oct. 31 in Waterloo

This year's loose leaf collection program in Waterloo will begin on Monday, October 31.
The city is asking residents to only rake their leaves to the curb a few days before collection day starts in their neighbourhood. They say that will help keep storm drains and sidewalks free of leaves.
They also suggest leaving them mulched on lawns, or piled in gardens to help pollinators. As well, residents can take advantage of the region’s biweekly yard waste program (collecting November 7 to 11, and November 21 to 25 in Waterloo), and bring them to the region's drop-off site on Erb Street for composting.
The estimated collection schedule is as follows:
- October 31 to November 5: zones W6, W8, E8, E7 and E5
- November 7 to November 12: zones W1, W7, E4 and E6
- November 14 to November 19: zones W3, W4, E2 and E3
- November 21 to November 26: zones W2, W5 and E1

Leaf drop-off sites opened October 14 in Kitchener. In Cambridge, curbside pick-up will start on November 9.
