Hate-motivated graffiti found at Kitchener synagogue

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A Kitchener synagogue has confirmed it was recently targeted with hate-motivated graffiti.

Simon Adler, a board member at Beth Jacob Synagogue, said a white supremacist coding, and reference to Adolf Hitler was found written on one of the back doors of the synagogue on Stirling Avenue.

The anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered a few days ago, according to Adler.

“We feel the need to have formal security for our major holiday services, and we'll obviously have to evaluate security issues,” Adler explained during an interview with CityNews 570.

The hateful comments come as they mark Sukkot — a week long Jewish holiday to celebrate the fall harvest.

Adler adds all forms of racism and bigotry need to be criticized and rejected.

Video tape is now being reviewed by police.
