The Boathouse one step closer to being revived as live music venue

The City of Kitchener is officially moving forward with a proposal to bring the music back to the Boathouse in Victoria Park. 

City council confirmed the decision last night but a lease agreement and other approvals will still be needed later this year. 

A local group, Walkinshaw Holdings, is planning on transforming the venue into one for live music, food, and entertainment. 

There will be at least two days of live, local music per week and steps taken to make sure programming is inclusive and diverse. 

The group is also proposing to expand the outdoor patio and enhance the venue's lake views. 

City staff recommended a lease of at least ten years. 

The Boathouse is expected to open next spring.
