Two charged following shoplifting incident in Kitchener

Two Kitchener residents are facing charges following a shoplifting incident in the city.

Police were called to a business at Fischer-Hallman Road and Ottawa Street South, just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers arrested two people.

A 32-year-old man and 40-year-old woman have been jointly charged with theft under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with a judicial release. The male suspect was also charged with assault with intent to resist arrest.

Both of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
