Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest latest to temporarily close ER

By Christine Clark

Another temporary ER closure at an Ontario hospital due to staffing shortages.

This one at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.

Their Emergency Department will be closed overnight on Saturday and Sunday due to “significant gaps in nursing coverage.”

The ER will be open during the day.

The hospital is also dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

Angela Stanley, LMH President and CEO says “Our staff have been going above and beyond for greater than two years and we cannot ask them to do more.”

Those living in the area, in need of emergency care during the overnight hours this weekend are still advised to call 911.

Nearby emergency departments included units in Palmerston, Durham, Listowel, Hanover, Walkerton, and Fergus.
