St. Paul’s University College being renamed this fall

By Erin Anderson

St. Paul's University College will have a new name this fall.

The University of Waterloo announced on Monday that the school will be known as United College starting September 24.

The name change was approved by board members during a meeting last week and follows 12 months of discussion and consultation with key stakeholder groups.

The college was founded by the United Church in 1962, but the school and church ended their affiliation two decades ago.

Principal Richard Myers said the new name speaks to the college's inclusive values, while still honouring those responsible for the institution's founding and early development.
