Man charged, police officer hurt in Kitchener disturbance

A Kitchener man is facing several charges after police were called to a disturbance in the city.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a residence in the area of David Bergey Drive and Peach Blossom Crescent.

Police located a male suspect and placed him under arrest.

During the arrest, the suspect allegedly became assaultive, which resulted in injuries to an officer. The officer was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and assaulting a peace officer.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
