Roller disco coming to the Kitchener Market

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Disco is back, baby. Roller disco, that is.

And now, it's coming to the Kitchener Market.

With the recent surge in popularity of disco roller skating, KWFamous has partnered with the community “to bring nostalgia vibes”  to Kitchener this June.

On Thursdays throughout month, starting this coming week, the Kitchener Market will feature a roller disco from 6-10 p.m. in the lower level parking garage.

It's pay what you can admission, and you're welcome to bring your own roller skates or rent a pair for $10.

Kids and adults of all ages are welcome.

There will also be “learn to skate” hours from 6-7 p.m. each week for those who want some assistance getting the hang of it.

Local businesses will be onsite, including The Crazy Canuck Food Truck, Four All Ice Cream, Good Vibes Juice, and The Crumby Cookie Dough Company.

Each week is themed as follows:

  • June 9 – Disco debut: Let’s get the party started with a mix of 70s vibes and today’s pop to kick off the KWFamous Roller Disco!
  • June 16 –  It’s your birthday: Because of the pandemic, we’ve missed a lot of birthday celebrations. This event will be a birthday party for everyone.
  • June 23 – Rainbow disco: Be who you are. Love who you want to. Celebrate PRIDE under the disco rainbow.
  • June 30 – It’s a secret: We're not about to give away all our secrets… but what we can tell you is that June 30 is filled with surprises.

Registration is required. You can learn more here
