Grand River Hospital COVID-19 testing clinic moving to Green Street

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Grand River Hospital's COVID-19 testing clinic is moving to a new location next week.

The last day the clinic will operate out of the old bus terminal on Charles Street will be March 23.

During peak points of the pandemic, staff were doing between 500 and 600 tests a day, which is now down to between 30 and 60 a day, so they no longer require the level of infrastructure that the Charles St. site has.

The clinic will reopen March 25 at the hospital's K-W Campus — located at 40 Green Street.

Since March 2020, the Grand River Hospital clinic has provided more than 220,000 tests.

Tests are currently appointment-only and residents need to meet a strict criteria. Details on who is eligible can be found on Grand River Hospital's website

“We are grateful to the Region of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener for making the Charles Street location a possibility when it was needed the most,” Bonnie Camm, GRH executive vice-president, clinical services, shared in a news release. “And to our staff, including emergency room physicians for their overwhelming support of and dedication to this work. These partnerships helped to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and have made a significant positive impact on the health of the local community.”
