Provincial government funding three local programs that support seniors

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The provincial government is funding over 250 programs across Ontario to help seniors stay safe, healthy and active in their communities.

The announcement was made earlier this week.

Three of the programs are delivered in Waterloo Region.

Community Capacity Building Network in Kitchener will receive over $24,000 to help Black, visible minority and immigrant seniors to combat social isolation through health and wellness sessions.

Over $15,000 will be put into The 55+ Better Program at THEMUSEUM, which offers a series of workshops and speaker events.

Cambridge's Fairview Mennonite Home has also been granted $25,000 for mental health programs.

In total, $5 million was distributed across the province as part of the Seniors Community Grant Program.
