WRDSB accepting submissions for SJAM school renaming

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Waterloo Region District School Board has put out a call for submissions to rename the Waterloo high school formerly known as Sir John A. Macdonald.

They are particularly hoping to reach out to “Indigenous communities who have been harmed by the legacy of Canada's first Prime Minister.”

According to the submission form, the current name of the school doesn't align with the Board's commitment to Indigenous rights, human rights, anti-oppression, anti-racism, anti-discrimination and equitable and inclusive education.”

The call for suggestions is open to anyone in the community, including students.
