Cambridge MPP Belinda Karahalios has confirmed she tested positive for COVID-19.
In a twitter post on Sunday, she detailed that she will not be able to go to Queen's Park after she had a test come back positive Friday, and that she is unable to return until November 30.
Karahalios said she was sick for a couple of days, but is feeling much better.
The thread emphasized that she won't be in the house for a debate and potential vote on Motion 8, which she said extends Bill 195 powers past December 1, allowing the Ford government to impose COVID-19 measures without a vote or debate.
The New Blue Party MPP called the bill “undemocratic and authoritarian legislation that enables Doug Ford to continue with draconian COVID-19 measures on Ontarians – like COVID-19 vaccine passports, capacity limits, and mask mandates – even though there is no declared “state of emergency.”
The debate is expected to take place Monday, with a potential vote Tuesday.
(1/3) Unfortunately, I am barred from debating or voting against Motion 8 because I tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. I will not be able to enter Queens Park until November 30th. I was sick for a couple of days but am feeling much better.#onpoli @NewBlueON pic.twitter.com/GY91JrcTXP
