The Ford government announced this week that symptomatic COVID-19 testing is being offered in select Ontario pharmacies, with plans to eventually expand to 1,300 locations.
But one major drugstore operator has confirmed to CityNews 570 that it will not be opting in.
A spokesperson with Rexall confirmed that none of its pharmacies currently plan to participate in the symptomatic testing program.
“Rexall pharmacies will not be participating in symptomatic COVID-19 testing at this time,” said an e-mail statement. “We will continue low-risk, asymptomatic screening for work and travel clearance purposes.”
