Carr family donates $500K to Drayton Entertainment

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Carr family of West Montrose have made a significant financial donation to Drayton Entertainment.

The $500,000 multi-year commitment, from Brad Carr and Susan Wagler, will help support the new Youth Academy training facility, as well as operations and programming support as the organization continues to recover financially from the pandemic.

As a thank you, the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse Auditorium will be named The Carr Family Auditorium.

“We have watched as Drayton’s programs have expanded over the last few years to include people at all ages and stages of life,” Brad Carr said in a news release.

“In particular, opportunities have increased exponentially for young people to be exposed to the arts through arts education, engagement, and outreach. Our family is excited to be part of the process as more youth throughout the province learn and grow under this new umbrella.”

The Youth Academy training facility is currently being built on Northfield Drive in Waterloo. The 10,000 square foot space will include rehearsal halls, classrooms and acting studios.
