WRDSB allows shared objects, lockers and cubbies for school year
A glimpse into what's to come when students return to class at schools with the Waterloo Region District School Board.
The WRDSB held a special meeting last night to discuss the health and safety protocols in place.
This, as just over 67 per cent of students across the region aged 12-17 are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Bill Lemon Superintendent at WRDSB highlighted new policies, such as the sharing of objects with cohorts.
Another example of what's new this year, would be the use of lockers and cubbies, as well as in-person music programs within the school.
Lemon said for those students heading in person to learn, they will continue to rely on mitigation strategies they were familiar with from last school year.
“Many of the routines and processes will remain in place for this year with adaptations to reflect new guidance,” he said, “Our internal case management process will remain relatively unchanged. We will still be communicating with the community regarding positive cases and outbreaks.”
Meanwhile, for those choosing remote learning this school year, WRDSB superintendent Ron DeBoer said remote learning students will be tied to one school, but can still be connected to their home school.

“That's an important point to make, because many questions have come in around sports, activities, if a student can play at their home school and be involved in activities within their home school,” he said.
“They will be able to do that with their home school, even though they are on a remote learning program.”
