Intercounty Baseball League announces schedule for 2021 season

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) released its 2021 schedule today, marking its 102nd season.

The season begins July 7 with the Hamilton Cardinals travelling to Toronto for a showdown at Christie Pits.

“We're very happy to be able to release a schedule – yet another sign we are closer to getting back on the field,” said IBL Commissioner John Kastner in the news release. “With all the numbers trending in the right direction, there's a lot of confidence that we will be able to play this slate of game.”

Each team will play a 30-game schedule, with over 60 per cent of games being played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

On July 10, the Kitchener Panthers and defending champions Barrie Baycats will meet for the first time in a re-match of the 2019 final series, which saw the Baycats win four games to two.

The season will come to an end on Sept. 5, with the close of the regular season with three games on the docket.
