Waterloo Regional Police updated their investigation into a suspicious death in Waterloo on Thursday morning.

Police say a post-mortem, completed Wednesday, confirmed the identity of the victim as a 24-year-old woman who was a resident at the apartment building she was found on Tuesday afternoon. Police also say the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing.

36-year-old Daniel Erickson and 39-year-old Tyler Power have been charged with indignity to a dead body.

The victim's body was found inside an apartment in the area of Albert Street and University Avenue. The original call was for police to check on the well-being of a resident.

The two suspects were allegedly located within the unit. The accused are scheduled to appear in court on May 17.

Police also believe the victim and accused are known to each other, and do not believe there is a risk to public safety.

They say they will continue to have an increased presence in the area for the next several days while they conduct their investigation.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
