There's been another shooting in Waterloo Region.

Regional police were called to the Overlea Drive area — in the Forest Hills neighbourhood near Highland and Westmount — Thursday night, for reports of shots fired.

Police said three men were found at the scene with gunshot wounds after an altercation that's believed to have begun as a home invasion.

A 26-year-old Milton man and a 19-year-old Kitchener man were injured.

Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services said two patients were treated and sent to a trauma centre out of the region with critical injuries.

They say another person was sent to local hospital with what they call “immediate life-threatening injuries.”

One person is in custody, a 26-year-old Brampton man, who was also hurt.

Police believe this was a targeted shooting. This is the fourth shooting investigation in our region in 2021.

Expect a heavy police presence in the area, as officers continue to investigate. Waterloo Regional Police Constable Andre Johnson said police will be canvassing the area.

“We will be conducting a canvass, and seeking out information from residents and people in the area,” he said, “it will include members from our Major Crimes Unit, our General Investigations Unit, our Forensic Identification Unit, and our Emergency Response team.”

Further arrests and charges are anticipated.

Johnson said that anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
