Kitchener looking for new Fire Chief

By Mark Pare

After serving nearly three decades in Waterloo Region, Jon Rehill is stepping down as Kitchener's Fire Chief.

He won't be far away though, as he is moving to Halton Hills to take over as its Fire Chief, beginning February 1st.

Rehill started in Erieau as a volunteer firefighter, before heading over to Cambridge Fire to work as a full-time firefighter in 1991.

He was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in 2012, held the position for a couple of years and moved over to Kitchener in 2015 to begin his tenure as head of that fire department.

Meantime, Deputy Chief Bob Gilmore has agreed to take on the role of Acting Fire Chief with the fire department.
