Between October 8, 2020, and December 7, 2020, the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit conducted an investigation into child pornography.

The investigation began as an undercover online investigation pertaining to the distribution of child pornography in the Region of Waterloo.

On January 5, 2021, as a result of the investigation, a search warrant was completed at a residence in Cambridge.

During the search warrant, police located numerous digital devices. Information consistent with the original child pornography possession was located on scene.

As a result, a 26-year-old Cambridge male has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, making available child pornography, two counts of breach probation order, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
