Region reports 113 new COVID cases

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 113 new COVID-19 cases on its dashboard Wednesday afternoon.

This brings the new total up to 5,828 cases for the region since March.

The number of active cases has increased to 543 from 518 since Tuesday. 

Here are some other updates from the Region's COVID summary dashboard on Wednesday:

  • 5,118 resolved cases (88 per cent).
  • There have been 165 deaths in the region linked to the virus. The latest was confirmed on December 29.
  • 38 cases are currently hospitalized (11 in ICU). 

There are currently 31 active outbreaks in the region:

  • NEW Clair Hills Retirement Home – 3rd floor (one case in staff)
  • NEW Briarfield Retirement Residence – 3rd floor (one case in resident) 
  • PeopleCare Hilltop Manor (two cases in staff)
  • Chartwell Westmount LTC – Pioneer Unit (four cases in residents, three cases in staff)
  • Pinehaven long-term-care – Lower Unit (one case in staff)
  • Nithview Retirement Residence (one case in resident)
  • Forest Heights long-term-care (two cases in staff)
  • Fairview Mennonite Homes Retirement Suites (one case in staff)
  • Barnswallow long-term-care (four cases in staff)
  • Trinity Village long-term care (11 cases in staff)
  • St. Luke's Place long-term care (three cases in staff)
  • Cambridge Country Manor (60 cases in residents, 63 in staff, 12 deaths)
  • Village of Winston Park retirement home (24 cases in residents, 21 cases in staff, three deaths)
  • Congregate setting 14 (nine cases)
  • NEW Transportation – Trucking 1 (two cases)
  • NEW Manufacturing/industrial workplace 15 (three cases)
  • NEW Manufacturing/industrial workplace 14 (three cases)
  • NEW General Office Setting 5 (two cases)
  • NEW Food Processing workplace 1 (29 cases)

  • Healthcare – Dental Services 3 (two cases)
  • Food and Beverage Services 9 (two cases)

The outbreaks at a manufacturing/industrial workplace, Stanley Park Public School and Lincoln Heights Public School have ended.

  • 178,831 total cases (2,923 new today) – new daily record high. 
  • 153,799 cases are resolved (86 per cent).
  • 4,474 related deaths (19 new today).
  • 1,177 hospitalized (323 in the ICU).
