A party in Waterloo on the night of Halloween led to one charge laid against the host, resulting in an $880 fine.
According to an official with the City of Waterloo, the gathering saw more than 10 people in attendance, breaking the provincial pandemic guidelines.
Broken down, $750 of that charge was a local tax, while $130 was a provincial surcharge.
City staff also confirm a second charge was laid this weekend on the night of November 1 for a gathering at a different property.
That gathering had over 13 people, and some were leaving upon bylaw's arrival. An $880 fine was given to that host as well.
A City of Kitchener spokesperson says, bylaw officers responded to a handful of Halloween parties over the weekend, and spoke to individuals at each of the gatherings ensuring they were aware of the current provincial regulations in place relating to COVID.
However, both the cities of Kitchener and Cambridge laid zero charges over the weekend.
