Guelph man faces firearms, human trafficking charges

On Oct. 19, 2020, police received information that a 26-year-old Guelph male was in possession of a firearm. As a result of this information, police executed search warrants at three addresses. Two of the searches resulted in the following seizures.
Residence located in the south end of Guelph:
• Lakefield Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun with serial number removed
• Loose .22 calibre hollow point ammunition
• Ammunition belt with 12 gauge shotgun ammunition
• Two large knives
• Large canister of bear spray
• Leg shackles
• Loaded syringe
• Large quantity of marijuana edibles
Residence located in central Kitchener:
• Schmeisser .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle with serial number removed
• Two rifle magazines with excess loaded hollow point ammunition
• Container of .22 calibre hollow point ammunition
• Loose .22 calibre hollow point ammunition
Further investigation by the Guelph Police Service and Waterloo Regional Police Service joint Human Trafficking Unit revealed that this male was also involved in human trafficking.
On Oct. 19, this male was arrested and charged with numerous firearms and human trafficking related offences as well as breaches of court orders. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
