Water outage extended in Stanley Park area of Kitchener (update)
Posted Aug 7, 2020 03:17:00 PM.
For the third day in a row, residents and businesses in a Kitchener neighbourhood will be hit with a lengthy water disruption.
It's due to ongoing water main repairs in the Frederick, Victoria, and River Road area.
The first outage occurred Wednesday during the daytime and lasted well over 13 hours.
Thursday's outage was scheduled to take place overnight to minimize impacts, and it'll be the same story Friday.
Water is set to be shut off at midnight and will be restored by Saturday at 7 a.m.
A spokesperson with The City of Kitchener confirmed the area will see more infrastructure improvements in 2024 – with some capital budget already set aside for that.
You can see full details on Friday's disruption below.
Water Outage Update (Friday, August 7, 11 a.m.)
An extended water outage will occur in the area of Ephraim and Frederick streets, Victoria Street North and River Road East from midnight to 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 8 for additional watermain repairs. Affected dwellings will be notified by a door knock or a paper notice from Navicon.
The service interruption will occur overnight to minimize the inconvenience to residents.
When water service is returned, residents may notice discoloured or milky water. The discolouration is from iron and manganese that are naturally occurring in the groundwater. To eliminate the discoloured water you can turn on a cold water tap nearest your water meter and let it flush slowly for several minutes until it runs clear. If your water is “milky”, it has air in it. You can turn on a cold water tap at the highest point in your home and again let it run slowly for a few minutes until the air is gone.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
