Brianna Iannazzo is the 15th recipient to win the Outstanding Woman of Laurier award.

It was presented during a virtual celebration on Thursday, sponsored by RBC.

Iannazzo, who hails from Thornhill, is a fourth-year women's basketball standout and health sciences major.

“It is such an honour to have received the Outstanding Woman of Laurier award. I've looked up to the previous recipients since my first year at Laurier, and it was always my goal to follow in their footsteps.” she said.

“Throughout my time at Laurier I've strived to succeed not only in athletics but also to engage with my community and excel academically. I'm very thankful for the opportunities studying and playing basketball at Laurier have provided me with. It’s extremely rewarding to be recognized for my achievements on and off the court.”

Iannazzo, a team captain and starting guard, led the way for the Golden Hawks on the court this season where she averaged over 15 points a game.

She currently sits fifth on the university's all-time scoring list with 915 points.

Off the court, she's a coach with the Waterloo Youth Basketball League, is a member of the Golden Hawk Council Running and Reading program that works with children to combine athletics with reading, and also volunteers at Grand River Hospital.

The other nominees this year were basketball player Rachel Woodburn, and former swim team member Lauren Cuylle.
