Region launches Water Softener Plumbing Rebate Program

The Region of Waterloo is hoping to put $50 in your pocket as they launch the Water Softener Plumbing Rebate Program this month.
The rebate is offered to households that change their softeners to treat hot water only.

Regional Staff note, making the change to treat only hot water has numerous benefits, not only for your bank account but also for the environment.
The more water that's softened with salt in your house, the more salty water is discharged down the drain and ultimately harms plant and animal life in our community.
In fact, softeners add 16,000 tonnes of salt to our waterways each year.
Making the switch to treat only hot water will also save money on salt and water cost and increase the life expectancy of your water softener.
