A local pick your own strawberry patch is now open

Starting Thursday, June 25, Herrle's Farm Market will open their pick your own strawberry patch. Staff will continue to keep in place COVID-19 safety measures, which are brought down by the Ontario Berry Growers Association and government regulations on how to handle a pick your own operation.
They plan to try and make it the safest environment possible for all customers while ensuring there is very little contact with staff.
“We're doing a three-litre basket, and you pay for that basket, and you pick into that basket, which will be $12.50, and 5.6 litre pail will be $25, so it's not how much a customer can pick by the pound this year,” said Trevor Herrle-Braun from Herrle's Farm Market.
Unfortunately, it is not going to look like the social outing like it has in past years, as there are new rules put in place, such as parents will only be allowed to bring one child under the age of 14.
“We realize you can't make it out there without your kids, but we do have people out in the field, and if those rules aren't adhered to, you're going to be asked to leave the field,” said Herrle-Braun.
He added they have to look out for what they are doing and make sure they're doing it properly because they don't want to get shut down, as guidelines are followed.
They will be running on limited hours from:
- Thursday, June 25, 8 am to 12 pm
- Friday, June 26, 8 am to 12 pm
- Saturday, June 27, 8 am to 4:30 pm or until picked out
- Sunday the patch is closed
