Roseville United Brethren Church in Ayr opens new sanctuary

It's a new chapter for the Roseville United Brethren Church in Ayr.
A major rebuild was needed after a woman, who suffered a medical emergency crashed her car into the building back in December 2017.
The church dating back to 1881 was damaged beyond repair.
Pastor Randy Magnus says it's surreal being back.
'It's almost double the size … it's bigger and brighter, the acoustics are great, the sound just resonated beautifully, especially when the congregation is all singing together.”
Commenting on their first service in the new sanctuary this Sunday, Magnus says, “It was fantastic to have the whole group in one space not split between the upstairs and downstairs, and linked by video feed. Our tech people did a great job, but it was still wonderful to be together and worship God in one space.”
Building the new space didn't come easy, and as Magnus tells us, was a huge community effort.
“Right from the demolition, we did all of that ourselves, and had crews there every week ripping stuff down, cleaning the bricks so they could be reused, and building the stage, doing some of the drywall, ramps, painting … a lot of people put in hundreds of hours, maybe even thousands, it was great.”
More work is needed in the lower level of the new building. Once that is complete an open house will be held on April 4th with a special dedication service planned for the next day.
