Canada's National Ballet School's (NBS) 60th anniversary cross country audition tour will be in the city from January 9-10, hosting open classes and auditions for NBS' Professional Ballet Program.

“NBS' annual audition tour across Canada is deeply meaningful for my colleagues and me, as it allows us to engage with some of the most talented young people in the country,” Mavis Staines, Artistic Director and CEO said in a release. “This year's tour reflects NBS' impassioned commitment to celebrating the richness and diversity of Canada’s dance community and to building pathways for more people to discover, pursue and develop a life-long appreciation for dance.”

Auditions for NBS’ full-time Professional Ballet Program (students in grades 6 – 12) and Post-Secondary Program (high school graduates) are specially designed ballet classes where dancers are assessed for quality of movement, coordination and overall suitability for the demands of classical ballet. The minimum age to audition is 10, and no prior ballet training is required for students aged 12 and under.

The Waterloo open classes and auditions will take place at Contemporary School of Dance on Bathurst Drive.
